CARDINAL SEAN O’MALLEY, PRESIDENT OF THE PONTIFICAL COMMISSION FOR THE PROTECTION OF MINORS, IS RE-VICTIMIZING CHILDHOOD CLERGY SEXUAL ABUSE VICTIMS IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF BOSTON
MEDIA RELEASE – TUESDAY, MARCH 21, 2023
Innocent victims of sexual abuse by clergy of the Archdiocese of Boston are being re-victimized and re-traumatized by Cardinal Sean O’Malley who is ignoring the repeated requests of childhood clergy sexual abuse victims to have their claims validated in a timely manner through the Archdiocese of Boston Compensation Program.
Some claimants well into their 70’s and 80’s have been waiting years to have their claims validated through the Archdiocese of Boston Compensation Program
The Compensation Program for the Archdiocese of Boston is meant to validate claims of childhood clergy sexual abuse victims, but because it is practicing unreasonable delay, the program is deceptive and re-victimizing victims many of whom are elderly and in ill health. As a result, it has become clear that the Archdiocese of Boston wants these victims to eventually be unable to participate in the Compensation Program
As President of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Children, Cardinal O’Malley should respond to the needs of childhood clergy sexual abuse victims in a morally responsible way as an example for the world to follow.
