The Vatican report on former Cardinal Archbishop Theodore McCarrick of the Archdioceses of Newark and Washington, DC, and the Diocese of Metuchen, New Jersey, and his history of alleged sexual abuse of many persons was released on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at approximately 8:00 AM Eastern time.
In the Spring of 1994, Robert Hoatson was resigning from the Irish Christian Brothers and expressed interest in becoming a priest of the Archdiocese of Newark. Archbishop Theodore McCarrick set up a meeting between Msgr. William Fadrowski and Robert Hoatson to discuss Hoatson’s interest in the priesthood because both of them followed similar paths from the religious brotherhood to the priesthood
The first question Robert Hoatson asked Msgr. William Fadrowski at that meeting was, “Has McCarrick stopped sleeping with the seminarians?” Robert Hoatson had heard about McCarrick’s sleeping with seminarians for years as did “everyone” else in the religious/clerical culture and he did not want to place himself in a dangerous situation.
